Puntland President in Nairobi for Diplomatic Meetings.

The President of Puntland State of Somalia H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud (Farole) flew from the Puntland capital Garowe and arrived at the Kenyan capita lNairobi on Wednesday May 29. President Farole, accompanied by Interior Minister H.E. Abdullahi Ahmed Jama (Ilkajir), has begun conducting diplomatic meetings with

international partners of the Somali peace and reconciliation process.
The Puntland delegation briefly greeted Somali President H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the VIP entrance of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, as President Hassan was on his way to an international conference in Japan.
The delegation also briefly greeted Somali Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime
Minister H.E. Fozia Yusuf Haji Aden, who did not travel with President Hassan
to Japan, at the airport’s VIP Lounge.
The Puntland Government delegation received a warm welcome outside the
airport, as President Farole greeted cheering supporters and briefly addressed Somali media organizations.
On Wednesday evening, President Farole met with U.S. Special
Representative for Somalia H.E. Ambassador James Swan and U.S. Deputy Special Representative for Somalia Brian Phillips.
On Thursday morning, the Puntland delegation received 15 Ambassadors and
representatives from the European Union led by E.U. Special Representative for Somalia H.E. Ambassador Michele Cervone d’Urso, followed by a separate meeting with African Union’s Special Representative for Somalia H.E. Mohamed Salah Annadif.
Discussions with the U.S., the E.U, and the A.U. covered a range of topics about Puntland and Somalia more generally, including security issues, the Federal Constitution and formation of Federated States such as Jubaland State, Somali economy and the currency crisis, and progress in the ongoing democratization process in Puntland.
President Farole is scheduled to continue meetings with foreign diplomats, including representatives of Kenya, the U.K.,Ethiopia, I.G.A.D., Australia, and the Gulf States.
